| Councillor Development Weekend (CDW) |
A highlight of the councillor professional development calendar is the MAV Councillor Development Weekend. Held in July each year, it attracts on average 200 councillors. The program is tailored exclusively for local government elected representatives and the program blends topical issues affecting the sector, skill and capability development for the role of councillor, with opportunities for networking and time-out activities.
The format comprises a Friday night welcome dinner, high profile keynote speakers, skill development workshops, Saturday night dinner and entertainment. An attractive feature of the weekend is that partners and children are welcome and a Kids' Club and a Partner’s Program are offered.
