Access and Mobility Overview
Strategic Objective: To enhance and support local government’s advocacy and delivery of improved mobility and transport for the community.
The MAV is working to support local government’s advocacy and delivery of improved mobility and transport for the community. The Department of Human Services (DHS) also funds a Disability Access and Inclusion Adviser position at the MAV to work with councils to facilitate the development of policies, planning and practice that create more accessible and inclusive communities in line with the vision of the DHS State Disability Plan 2002-2012.

Accessible Buildings and Premises
Various Australian Standards set out requirements that must be referred to when making decisions that impact on people with disabilities, Including AS1428 Design for Access and Mobility.

MAV is working with State and local government to ensure that people with a disability are able to live and participate in community life including access to public transport

Disabled Persons Parking Scheme
The key objective of the Disabled Persons Parking Scheme (DPPS) is to ensure that people with a disability have easier access to services and facilities throughout the state.
