There are 13 candidates for three vacancies in Bellarine Ward, 18 candidates for three vacancies in Brownbill Ward, 11 candidates for three vacancies in Kardinia Ward and 11 candidates for two vacancies in Windermere Ward.
Candidate statements and questionnaires are available on the VEC website, which include the candidates’ reasons for standing for council and their vision for the municipality.
MAV President Cr Mary Lalios encouraged local residents to read the candidate materials so they know who they are voting for.
“It is important for Greater Geelong residents to determine who they believe will best represent them for the next three years,” Cr Lalios said.
“If they’re feeling overwhelmed or unsure, residents can also get in touch with candidates directly to discuss local issues or ask questions about their campaign.
“Don’t waste this opportunity to have your say about who will advocate on your behalf and be the voice of your community – it is an important democratic right.”
The VEC has mailed ballot papers to enrolled Greater Geelong residents this week. Completed ballot material must be posted or in the hands of the Returning Officer by 6pm, Friday 27 October.
