About EasyBiz
Accessing local government services using the internet has grown by 150 per cent since 2004. This is the fastest rate of growth for any of the three levels of government over that time.

Recognising the importance of the internet for businesses transactions with government to reduce the overall time and cost to business, the Federal Government funded the EasyBiz project. Online forms for 18, high volume transactions in the areas of planning, building, and environmental health have been developed and councils are being supported with hands on assistance to integrate these with back end systems.

The Victorian Government has provided funding to extend the project and roll out the forms to all councils by 2009.

What is EasyBiz
EasyBiz offers businesses a consistent experience through one common form across councils for 18 transactions that clearly identify the requirements for various licenses, permits and registrations.

Using smartform technology, users can complete application forms and submit them either online or via traditional means, speeding up the application process.

The forms are dynamic, enabling the fields to change depending on the information completed and when users fill out fields with their details, the information is remembered for future use.

Standard Business Reporting
The Federal Government has recently announced a Standard Business Reporting (SBR) project. The aim of the project is to standardise the data reporting requirements of regulatory authorities. The outcomes of this project will be reduced effort by business in compliance/reporting to government as data will be reused and redistributed (e.g. pre-fill forms with permission). With SBR, small business will inform/report to Government once, and have this common data (e.g. name, address, ABN, company profile) reused across tiers of government and perhaps even the private sector (banks, utilities, etc). The EasyBiz project will aim to adopt SBR and will implement architectures and standards that are consistent with SBR.
