Flood, fire, storms and drought - what's next?

What's next?

What was the cost to your council of flood recovery this financial year? What steps have you taken to drought proof your parks and gardens? Has your capital works program been delayed by flood and drought? What would you do differently next time, if you could plan ahead for these events?

We invite you to a series of free workshops specifically designed to help local government staff and councillors to:

  • understand climate variability and the risk and cost to local government service delivery areas
  • understand state and federal climate policy impacting on local government
  • understand the fundamentals of adaptation planning
  • share stories from other councils planning and acting to manage the risks and costs of climate variability
  • develop networks to help share the planning and implementation

The workshops will be facilitated by Shelley McGuinness, Claire Flanagan-Smith and Carl Larsen of RM Consulting Group. Shelley, Claire and Carl bring a wealth of experience from working with local government in Victoria and New South Wales on climate variability and adaptation planning.
