This autumn the Local Government Information Communications Technology (LGICT) Group is heading to Wangaratta to talk about smartphones, tablets, apps and their role in improving service delivery for Victoria’s councils.
iPads and other tablets offer exciting possibilities for improving mobility, accessibility and efficiency of council staff, executives and elected officials. Productivity and environmental benefits are compelling, but their use raises several questions about data security and ownership, combining private and work use, privacy compliance and risk management for councils.
At this forum you’ll hear the good, the bad and the ugly from councils and consultants who are now developing local government apps; rolling out smartphones, iPads and Android tablets; and establishing best practice policies. It’s an ever-evolving area that demands on-going attention and support from council IT departments.
