We are in the midst of a crisis of confidence in government and governance. These issues were discussed by an array of Australian and international presenters supported by co-design input from attendees.
The Game has changed!
Now it’s about:
- Community-Led Governance (community co-leadership & co-design)
- Co-operation and collaboration between councils.
This Summit will celebrate the local: who’s leading the (new) way and how they’re doing it. Unbelievably ‘wow’ content from around Australia and the world.
For possibly the first time in history, we are seeing the simultaneous breakdown of trust in our key institutions: government, church and business. People want to ‘take back control’. This involves a transfer of power to the local level: putting control of government where it belongs: in the hands of the governed: a reset of democracy.
Local councils do amazing things. Councils manage the most complex service business on earth on a shoestring. They are the elephant in the community, the ‘glue’ that supports communities and makes the system work at the local level. This summit is about the way councils work, and making them more effective - not downgrading or replacing them.
