The MAV Technology Annual Conference is on in March 2019 – and it’s going to be huge!
MAV Technology 'Riding the Wave' National Annual Conference & Awards for Excellence will be held in Geelong on 25-28 March 2019.
It’s deliberately located an hour from Melbourne, close to the surf coast beaches and the Great Ocean Road to bring the conversation to regional Victoria, encourage delegates to enjoy the full breadth of the program, and also entice our invited international speakers to a wonderful part of Australia. March is a sensational time of year here!
The primary focus of the conference is how we are transforming local government to serve and support communities in the digital era. Topics will include emerging technologies, AI, data ethics, business transformation, data governance, customer experience, smart cities, new and collaborative ways of working, digital access, equity and diversity – and navigating the massive cultural change that all this will bring. It will include rural, regional and metropolitan council case studies from across Australia.
Our secondary theme will explore how indigenous cultures might help shape our collective future in the digital era, using some inspiring Māori & Aboriginal people and case studies to illustrate different ways of finding purpose and self-worth in challenging times. Our conference chair, David Bartlett (former Premier of Tasmania) is excited to be returning in 2019 and will co-chair with Jirra Lulla Harvey, founder of Kalinya Communications and an inspiring and tech-savvy Yorta Yorta / Wiradjuri woman.
The conference will begin with a Welcome Reception at The Pier Geelong, attended by dignitaries including our keynote speakers, mayors, councillors, sponsors, partners and delegates. The Conference itself (including Exhibition) will be held at Kardinia Park in the President's Room of GMHBA Stadium which overlooks the football oval. It is an interesting and unusual venue, where the Geelong Cats will be in action preparing for the 2019 footy season. It features state-of-the-art audio visual facilities, comfortable seating (at tables), fabulous catering and an expansive trade expo space allowing for innovative and exciting new displays from our exhibitors.
On night one of the conference, we host theMAV Technology Awards for Excellence Dinner. It will be held at the spectacular The Pier Geelong and will be a formal affair celebrating innovation in local government ICT in Victoria, across Australia and around the world. We’ll have Casey Bennetto and the band on board to announce the awards in their usual entertaining way and provide a soundtrack for guests to dance the night away.
On night two of the conference we offer a Networking Evening which includes an informal dinner, with special guests, Tripod. The music, food and conversations are sure to be sensational.
On day three there is an optional Half-Day Site Tour or optional Masterclasses (choice of two Masterclasses) on offer in the morning. The tour includes special access to Deakin University’s world-leading innovation centre and the City of Greater Geelong’s impressive technology assets. The masterclasses are hosted by Deloitte Digital, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Splunk, and will discuss the following topics: 'how to map council business processes to enable application efficiency', and 'smart cities'.
This conference is put together by local government, for local government.
