2018 MAVHACK Gippsland – Presentation Day

MAVHACK subject matter experts will focus on transport and how we might use technology to optimise road infrastructure, reduce maintenance costs and improve citizen experience. The second focus will be on jobs and business creation and how might we use technology to create economic opportunities for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal citizens who want to live and work locally?

Event Description

MAVHACK is an exciting, inspiring and colourful event that brings together subject matter experts and service users from councils, business, government, academia and the community to work over two days to find new approaches to address specific community pain points.

See the videos and presentation decks from the 2017 MAVHACK event

The pain points we’ll be addressing for this year’s MAVHACK are:

Transport:
How might we use technology to optimise road infrastructure, reduce maintenance costs and improve citizen experience?

Jobs and business creation:
How might we use technology to create economic opportunities for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal citizens who want to live and work locally?

The ‘jobs & business creation’ theme should allow us to include key economic opportunity topics for each region, as well as social procurement barriers and opportunities.

Invited subject matter experts and service users from councils, business, government, academia and the community will participate in the four MAVHACK teams, who will work together over two days to find new approaches for addressing these community pain points. The MAVHACK teams will be hard at work on 3 and 4 September in Morwell and Geelong.

The presentation day starts at 3.00pm on Wednesday 5 September and will be attended by MAV Technology members and senior representatives from the MAV, Victorian Councils, VicRoads, the Victorian Government and other participating organisations. In addition to witnessing the outcomes of this innovative multi-stakeholder ‘think tank’, the presentation day will include a tour of the brand new Gippsland Tech School in Morwell.

This innovative event will demonstrate the critical roles of technology and cultural change in preparing councils and their communities to thrive in the digital world. Don’t miss it!
