Royal Commission into Aged Care and Quality

Publish date:

The MAV will present to the Royal Commission into Aged Care and Quality on Tuesday, 19 March.

Given the short notice for this presentation, our submission draws on Victorian local government positions put forward by the MAV over the last 10 years, the ALGA 2019/20 Federal Budget submission, and written input from the New South Wales and South Australian Local Government Associations.

On behalf of local government, our submission advocates for a commitment by the Commonwealth to the ongoing recurrent block funding to councils and the expansion of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), preferably implemented through a National Partnership Agreement and Bilateral Agreements with each jurisdiction.

We are pleased the Commission has recognised the importance of receiving further information from the MAV on behalf of the community and councils. Our presentation next week provides an important opportunity to contribute the expertise of Victorian councils to future aged care reform and program design.
