We advocate on councils’ behalf when regulatory changes affecting councils are being considered or introduced by the Australian and Victorian Governments.

Councils are encouraged to develop a holistic approach to public health and wellbeing planning so their obligations under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 are fulfilled.

Public health & wellbeing guide & toolkit

To help councils implement the changes resulting from the introduction of the Act, we commissioned the development of a guide and toolkit.

The Public health and wellbeing guide assists environmental health officers in their day-to-day investigation and enforcement activities.

The Public health and wellbeing toolkit helps governance officers and managers:

• delegate council powers
• appoint and authorise environmental health officers
• prepare and approve new registration forms
