The initiative encourages people to share a home-cooked meal with people who could benefit from a hot meal and community interaction.
Casserole Club launched in Australia on 6 October 2014 with Moreland City Council, Boroondara City Council and Macedon Ranges Shire Council piloting the community initiative.
Cooks and diners are able to sign up in Brunswick, Canterbury, Surrey Hills and Lancefield.
In partnership with the Municipal Association of Victoria and FutureGov, this free food-sharing project is funded by the Department of Health.
Home cooks have shared over 1,100 meals with older people in the UK Casserole Club to help tackle social isolation, with 4,600 cooks signed up in over 200 local authorities.
A broader rollout across Victoria in future years is intended.
Participating councils can share ideas and collaborate on the Casserole Club Yammer Group.
