MAV President and Board nominations
Nominations for the 2017 MAV President and Board elections have closed with five councillors contesting the presidency.
For the first time in recent MAV history three women have nominated for the role of MAV President, and almost half (42 per cent) of the total candidates are women.

The MAV congratulates the four candidates whose Board positions were uncontested:
- Metropolitan Central – Cr Rohan Leppert (Melbourne)
- Metropolitan Southern – Cr Geoff Lake (Monash)
- Rural North East – Cr Ronald Janas (Alpine)
- Rural South West – Cr Ruth Gstrein (Corangamite)
The MAV President is popularly elected by the MAV Representatives who comprise State Council (the governing body of the MAV). Board Members represent their regional grouping of councils and are elected by MAV Representatives from within their region. Voting closes at 4pm on Friday 3 March.
