Safety around school reviews

Publish date:

Transport for Victoria is currently undertaking a review of School Student Movement and Safety.

The strategic review aims to identify improvements for existing student travel arrangements, examine the effectiveness of the built environment and develop potential safety improvements for areas around schools.

Transport for Victoria has undertaken an examination of travel patterns to and from schools and reviewed background information and data related to accidents around schools over the past decade.

Transport for Victoria is currently seeking specialist advice from experts and key stakeholders including the MAV, and will be undertaking further consultation with stakeholders in the coming months. Local government workshops will be announced shortly.

The MAV has again raised council concerns relating to school crossing supervisor arrangements, and will be advocating for these issues to be addressed within the review.

Transport for Victoria will complete the strategic review in early 2018.
