IBAC public hearings about Operation Sandon
The current public hearings by the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission (IBAC) have raised some serious allegations concerning councillor conduct in relation to planning and property development decisions in Melbourne’s south-east.
We support the need for this inquiry in the public interest, but we cannot pre-empt the possible findings from Operation Sandon.
It is vital that local government maintains the highest levels of integrity, openness and transparency in their decision-making, and that decisions are made in the best interests of the community.
The MAV is committed to working with the Victorian Government and councils to action any IBAC recommendations arising from the Inquiry.
Further information about Operation Sandon is available on the IBAC website.
