MAV Vision Super Board Representative Vacancy

The MAV Board is inviting applications for the upcoming vacant MAV representative Director’s position on the Vision Super Board. This is significant opportunity open to all Victorian Local Government Mayors, Councillors and Chief Executive and level two officers.

Vision Super is the Trustee for the Local Authorities Superannuation Fund (LASF). This is an Industry Fund established in 1947. As of 30 June 2020, the Fund’s assets under management were $10.3 Billion and it had 87,652 member accounts. LASF is a complying fund under the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) ACT 1993 (SIS Act).

In consideration of the performance of a director’s duties the MAV Board Representative will be entitled to a director’s fee plus superannuation, payable by Vision Super, each year (1 July to 30 June) for the period they are a director. For the year ended 30 June 21 this director’s fee is $67,742 plus Superannuation Guarantee contributions (totalling $74,178).

The successful candidate will be appointed for a period of four years, commencing 1 January 2022. However, there could be the opportunity for extensions of this appointment up to a maximum of 12 years.

The MAV Board has appointed a Vision Super Nomination Sub-committee (the Sub-committee) comprising the MAV Board President, Cr David Clark and Deputy Presidents Cr Ruth Gstrein and Cr Rohan Leppert.

The role of the Sub-committee is to invite, review and assess applications, interview shortlisted applicants and make a recommendation to the MAV Board.

An independent consultant, Mr John Nevins, has been engaged to provide process assistance to this MAV sub-committee.
