2020 Campaign Resources

These resources were created to help councils and other organisations participate in Respect Victoria's Respect Women: Call It Out 16 Days initiative from 25 November to 10 December 2020, coinciding with the United Nation’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

“Respect is…” was the theme of Respect Victoria’s 2020 campaign. This was a positive message that aimed to support Victorian communities to engage in conversations about ‘respect’ – what respect means to us, what respect looks like and how to put respect into practice, especially in the context of gender equality.

The call to action was again “Respect Women: Call It Out” and the campaign encouraged people to ‘call it out’ when they witness disrespect, sexism, harassment and abusive behaviours – drivers that can lead to violence against women.

Respect Victoria released a background document (PDF - 112KB) that provides information about the Respect Women: ‘Call It Out’ campaign and how it aligned with the 2020 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence and the ‘Respect Is…’ campaign theme.’ This document was designed to help you create your own ‘Respect Is…’ statements.

All resources were designed so that they were suitable for use in Victoria in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and changing restrictions.
