The Future is Local: Tickets on sale for MAV Annual Conference in October

Publish date:

The Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) is proud to announce tickets are now on sale for its flagship event: the MAV Annual Conference, set to take place this October at the Park Hyatt Melbourne.

Recognised as a premier conference on the Victorian local government calendar, this event provides an important opportunity for council leaders, officers and sector partners from across the state to connect, learn, celebrate and be inspired.

This year’s MAV Annual Conference is themed “The Future is Local”—a rallying call that celebrates the power and potential of local government to shape the future, rather than be shaped by it. The program will feature a mix of inspirational leadership, collaborative dialogue, and hands-on learning, with a focus on the big issues facing councils today—from climate and economic resilience to service innovation and housing.

The conference will be a dynamic, immersive and high-impact experience. Attendees can expect a rich blend of keynote speakers, panel discussions, interactive workshops and deep-dive conversations, across a wide variety of issues impacting on local government.

In a break from traditional formats, delegates will be able to “choose their own adventure” throughout the day, while also coming together at key points for shared meals, networking, and engagement.

MAV President Cr Jennifer Anderson said councils are on the frontlines of change and innovation and it’s important the MAV’s Annual Conference reflected this.

“This conference is about recognising leadership within the sector, strengthening collaboration and learning across the sector, and building a renewed sense of optimism,” Cr Anderson explained.

“We look forward to bringing the sector together for the exciting program.”

This year the conference sits in an exciting week of MAV events including our Councillor Service Awards, State Council, and our MAVlab Innovation Awards.

The MAV Annual Service Awards Gala Dinner will honour the outstanding commitment of Victoria’s elected councillors, celebrating the years of service and stewardship devoted to building healthier, more resilient communities. This cherished tradition brings together councillors, executives, and invited guests for an evening of recognition, reflection and celebration.

The MAV invites all in the sector to join us for a conference like no other—an opportunity to connect with colleagues, explore bold ideas, and leave re-energised by the vital work of local government.
