The Mayors Institute The Mayors Institute is an immersive, high-impact annual program shaped to empower Victorian Mayors with the skills to navigate emerging challenges and lead with confidence. The program will foster collaboration, sharpen leadership and governance skills, and help Mayors become the kind of leaders who can create real, lasting impact with and for their communities.

Specialised training opportunities

Exclusive access to bespoke training sessions and workshops, equipping Mayors with tools and strategies to successfully navigate the complex landscape of local government leadership and strengthen their role as informed and influential leaders.

Networking and collaboration

Build meaningful relationships with fellow Mayors, Deputy Mayors and other valuable stakeholders across the state.

Communities of practice

The program will facilitate peer-to-peer learning, collaborative practices and shared solutions to collective challenges. Work alongside fellow Mayors to explore innovative approaches to key policy areas, contributing to state-wide and national agendas.


The Mayor's Role in Internal Dispute ResolutionMasterclass: The Mayor’s Role in Internal Dispute Resolution

Led by experienced facilitator and leadership expert Dr. Graeme Emonson PSM, this in-person masterclass for Mayors and Deputy Mayors will equip you with the skills to navigate internal disputes confidently and professionally. You will gain practical techniques for early intervention, insights into the legal framework, and an understanding of the importance of impartiality and confidentiality. Attendees will leave with greater confidence in managing conflicts and receive supporting course materials.
