Mayors Institute
The Mayors Institute is an immersive, high-impact annual program shaped to empower Victorian Mayors with the skills to navigate emerging challenges and lead with confidence. The program will foster collaboration, sharpen leadership and governance skills, and help Mayors become the kind of leaders who can create real, lasting impact with and for their communities.
Specialised training opportunities
Exclusive access to bespoke training sessions and workshops, equipping Mayors with tools and strategies to successfully navigate the complex landscape of local government leadership and strengthen their role as informed and influential leaders.
Networking and collaboration
Build meaningful relationships with fellow Mayors, Deputy Mayors and other valuable stakeholders across the state.
Communities of practice
The program will facilitate peer-to-peer learning, collaborative practices and shared solutions to collective challenges. Work alongside fellow Mayors to explore innovative approaches to key policy areas, contributing to state-wide and national agendas.

This prestigious event provides a forum for reflection, inspiration, and connection recognising the achievements of outgoing mayors and welcoming newly elected leaders to the year ahead.
Delivered annually since 2024, the Oration is held in December each year.
