State Council

State Council is our governing body. It is made up of representatives from each member council.

State Council’s powers include:

  • determining the Rules of the Association
  • electing the president and other members of the Board
  • determining our strategic direction
  • appointing the auditor.

Decision-making

State Council meets twice a year, or more if needed. Members can submit business to be considered by State Council in accordance with the MAV Rules.

Representatives vote on matters before State Council.

Next meeting of the State Council

Meeting of the MAV State Council will be held on Friday 19 May 2023 at the Melbourne Town Hall.

Submitting motions

In accordance with the MAV Rules 2022

  • Submitting of motions will close on Monday 20 March 2023.
  • Motions may be submitted here. Please note motions must have been the subject of a council resolution.
  • Early motions received by 5pm on Friday 24 February will be distributed to MAV delegates on Monday 27 February.
  • Councils may amend their submitted motions y emailing the amended motions to governancesupport@mav.asn.au until 5pm on  Wednesday 12 April.
  • The agenda and business papers will be posted here on Wednesday 19 April.
