Each year, MAV Insurance hosts a number of events for members throughout Victoria and Tasmania.

2019 Best Practice Forums

The 3rd and final round of Victorian MAV Insurance Best Practice Forums were held in November and December in Nhill (Hindmarsh Shire Council), Ararat (Ararat Shire Council), Wonthaggi (Bass Coast Shire Council), Castlemaine (Mt Alexander Shire Council) and MAV Offices. Attendance numbers were very good in all regions across the state.

The joint presentation involving legal, risk and claims staff focused on the important topic of Third Party Hirers of Council Facilities, and generated great discussions and learnings to assist Council staff in challenges faced while interacting with a wide variety of hirers including sports clubs, community groups and organisers of private parties/functions. This was followed by a presentation by MAV Workcare representatives, outlining the experience of the newly formed mutual after the first 2 years and their key future strategies. The forum then wrapped up with a presentation on the LMI mutual financial position, ongoing structural review and respective future strategies.
