MAV President, Cr David Clark, said the process would reflect the MAV’s commitment to operating the scheme with the highest standards of governance and in accordance with its members expectations.

“Councils are required to identify, mitigate and, where appropriate, transfer any risks associated with their assets and operations as well as purchase insurance against loss and that’s where MAV Insurance can help,” Cr Clark explained.

“This tender is an important process to continue to demonstrate value-for-money for our members and implements an important recommendation of the Victorian Auditor-General’s performance audit on councils’ insurable risk.”

The procurement process is expected to commence in October 2021 and be completed in early 2022 to allow for an orderly transition to a new provider arrangements and for the reinsurance placement process to commence from the first quarter of 2022.

MAV Insurance was established in 1993 to provide policies to councils that couldn’t find appropriate coverage after the collapse of the commercial market and has since developed a strong history of providing stability and support to its members.

This open tender will be advertised through MAVs nominated tender platform MAV Tenders.
